Crumbs, sticky fingers, spilled juice and unidentifiable odors: These are most definitely not a few of any parent's favorite things.
And yet, between your fifth trip to the park and a car ride to daycare, your car, and your kid's car seat accumulate all of this not-so-fun stuff.
Why It's Important
Kids' car seats are probably a lot filthier than you think. In fact, a 2014 study revealed that they have twice as many germs than an average toilet. After taking swabs from 20 cars and homes, scientists at the University of Birmingham discovered about 100 potentially dangerous bacteria and fungi on every square centimeter, compared to just 50 specimens on a toilet seat!
